Buyer

Pay: $75K - $95K DOE
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8AM – 5PM

Responsibilities

• Independently analyzes demand, decides quantity to buy, and negotiates purchases of inventory materials up to $25k per MRP.
• Places POs for inventory and non-inventory items and follows up as required to assure an adequate material supply.
• Ensures an uninterrupted supply of material while maximizing inventory turns.
• Resolves quality and delivery problems.
• Sources new items with new and existing suppliers.
• Identifies potential suppliers and qualifies as required.
• Identifies cost reduction opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiation, and design changes; implements as feasible.
• Evaluates suppliers and provides feedback to improve performance, especially in the areas of lead time, on-time delivery, delivered cost, terms, and quality.
• Develops and maintains long-term relationships with key suppliers such that the company is viewed as an excellent customer worthy of preferential treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
• Three (3) years relevant work experience using MRP applications.
• NAPM/APICS certification preferred.
• 3+ years of Buyer experience within manufacturing.
• Capable of managing company-wide key supplier relationships.
• Capable of leading company-wide commodity responsibility.
• Knowledge of production and procurement procedures.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local procurement laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Office preferred).
