About the role

A Busser at Soho House supports runners, servers, and management by maintaining a clean, organized, and structured experience for members and guests. Responsibilities include cleaning and resetting tables, ensuring the availability of flatware and plates, restocking necessary items, and assisting with guest needs. A successful Busser is efficient, attentive, and possesses strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Detail all tables before service begins, ensuring place settings are neat, organized, and candles are on the tables.
• Ensure appropriate table settings and china are used for various services (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or feast).
• Maintain mis en place (ketchup, salt, pepper, HP sauce, and sugar bowls).
• Stock all stations upon arrival (small plates, sharing plates, water and wine glasses, and silverware) and maintain throughout service.
• Work with the team to keep the bread warmer full and neat.
• Maintain your section, deliver bread and water upon guests’ arrival, and assist other sections as needed.
• Clear tables of plates, silverware, and glassware between courses, then wipe down and reset tables for new guests.
• Polish silverware and store pot wash according to local standards.
• Complete side work before and after service (refer to side work sheets for details).
• Ensure the cabinet and shelf in the bar area are fully stocked with glassware, silverware, and plate ware before service.
• Remove all dirty linen from stations and ensure trash is empty and clean.
• Assist with washing dishes as needed.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends and holidays when needed.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
• Basic verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
• Capable of working on your feet for at least 8 hours.
• Fast-paced movements required to navigate between different parts of the club.
• Ability to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
• Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.

Pay

In accordance with California law, the salary range for this role if filled within California is $18.47—$18.47 USD. The range for other geographies may vary based on market differences. Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
