About the role
The Business Unit Financial Analyst will lead, evaluate, and support financial implications of the business unit’s strategy, operations, financial outcomes, and overall performance targets. This position will provide data-driven insight and support for enhanced decision-making to drive success of our customers, business unit and GreatAmerica Financial Services.
Responsibilities
- Lead, evaluate, and support financial implications of the business unit’s strategy, operations, financial outcomes, and overall performance targets.
- Provide data-driven insight and support for enhanced decision-making to drive success of our customers, business unit and GreatAmerica Financial Services.
- Partner with Business Unit Leaders in developing the business unit’s operating and financial strategies.
- Aid in the development of the business unit’s financial models to forecast operating results, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Models would include annual budget and longer-term (i.e., 5-year) financial plan.
- Continuously analyze the performance of the business unit against financial plans, identifying areas of opportunity, areas with positive and negative trends, and areas of concern.
- Work with business unit leadership team to develop and implement plans to outperform financial plans.
- Quantify financial and operational impacts in support of strategic decision-making.
- Made recommendations to leadership team regarding revenue growth or cost-saving opportunities that align with longer-term financial plans.
- Aid in monthly reporting within the business unit and to the leadership team.
- Partner with business unit and the data analytics team on the design and creation of interactive reports and dashboards to inform and drive action by business units.
- Strategize and champion implementation of program pricing, with a focus on profitability and customer success.
- Contribute to other key areas of the business unit which have significant financial implications such as pricing, compensation plans, staffing levels, etc.
- Proactively promote and participate in process improvement initiatives within the business unit.
- Promote a data-driven culture throughout GreatAmerica via active participation in a data champion community utilized for knowledge and best practice sharing.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics or related field.
- CPA is a plus.
- Experience: New college graduate or Finance professional with 1-3 years finance and accounting experience.
- Computer Skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Tableau or PowerBI a plus.
