Business Transient & Leisure Sales Manager

About the Role

This position is responsible for building, maintaining, and generating business for Leisure, Corporate, Consortia, and Travel Advisors. Duties include conducting site inspections, prospecting, solicitation, offsite client visits, limited traveling, preparing and executing action plans, and negotiating rates/contracts for specific accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop market segments and solicit new customer relationships while maintaining existing relationships with Travel Advisors, Consortia accounts, and FIT clients to maximize revenue and promote relationships through effective negotiation of services and prices.
  • Generate hotel awareness through direct phone sales, sales calls, tradeshows, third-party relationships, and networking groups.
  • Create action plans and target account lists to meet revenue goals from assigned markets.
  • Capitalize on Mondrian South Beach and Baia Beach Club marketing, sales programs, and resources.
  • Report weekly and monthly on sales activities, solicitation, and booking efforts.
  • Assist in preparing reports and participating in the annual Sales & Marketing Budget.
  • Maintain communication with networking organizations, including Chambers of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, and other industry partners.
  • Actively participate as part of the overall Sales team to meet objectives.
  • Obtain new key prospects monthly and maintain/improve the hotel database.
  • Prepare, present, and execute a 90-day Action Plan for a specific region.
  • Conduct site inspections as requested and maintain internal communication.
  • Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, sales trips, activities, and events.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings (e.g., group resume, pre-shifts, pre-con, and post-con).
  • Develop and enhance relationships with key travel industry accounts to maintain and increase market share.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts using the hotel’s database and past files.
  • Achieve individual and team goals.
  • Contribute to Quarterly Action Plans and the Annual Marketing Plan.
  • Manage, coach, and motivate sales personnel to achieve departmental and hotel goals.
  • Seek new customers through strategic outbound sales efforts.
  • Manage assigned budgets for goals and expenses.
  • Attend tradeshows, network events, outside sales calls, client meetings, and local/state/national sales trips as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete contracts in compliance with checklists, standards, and corporate policy.
  • Ability to manage and direct staff.
  • Strong critical analysis skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple customer and operational demands with professionalism, often under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Opera, and other sales-related systems.
  • Ability to operate independently with excellent time management and self-motivation.
  • Effective communication skills with the public and team members.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking); Spanish is a plus.
  • Able to work under pressure and handle stressful situations during busy periods.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including staffing, safety, security, and city ordinances.
  • High degree of independent judgment and discretion in decision-making.

Physical Demands

  • Most tasks are performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 or more hours per day.
  • Occasional walking and standing; tasks may vary daily.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch for cleaning and filing tasks.
  • Regularly lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing.
  • Continuous communication with guests, supervisors, and employees (talking and hearing).
  • Continuous visual functions, including near vision and depth perception.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and filing cabinets.

Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred, with a focus on hospitality, communications, sales, or marketing.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the market with a proven sales track record of meeting and exceeding goals.
  • Hotel or sales experience required.
  • Proven track record in prospecting and closing new business.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government licenses, certificates, or permits.

Schedule

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
