BUSINESS TAXES SPECIALIST I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
About the role
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) has a career opportunity for a Senior Tax Auditor. This position performs difficult and complex field audits or examinations of taxpayer accounts and records. Incumbents will learn and apply California's tax laws, develop leadership skills, and sharpen communication and auditing skills. The agency supports employee development through training and upward mobility programs.
Responsibilities
- Analyzing business records and taxpayer claims for refunds
- Corresponding with taxpayers, attorneys, and accountants
Qualifications
This recruitment is open to individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (attach letter if available). Individuals eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.
Requirements
- Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
- Travel required fifty percent (50%) of the time
- Position may require overnight travel for up to four (4) consecutive nights to meet training requirements
- In-state and out-of-state travel may be required up to fifty percent (50%) of the time, may include evenings, weekends, and/or overnight travel
- This employer participates in E-Verify
- This position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California; all telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week (schedules subject to change)
Pay
$8,052.00 - $10,079.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
