Business Systems Analyst
This is a full-time, FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for overtime provisions. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
About the Role
This position’s main responsibility is to ensure the operational efficacy and quality of the organization’s business process and system performance as well as serve as a key liaison between functional and technical teams, driving strategic system improvements, compliance, and operational efficiency within financial aid technology. The Business Systems Analyst will design and document workflow, manage and provide solutions to new business ideas, and conceptualize the office’s latest technological paths in our PeopleSoft environment. The analyst will need to understand end users’ business requirements and business process management and translate this to software requirements. Creative thinking, self-motivation, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail are required attributes.
Responsibilities
- System Support & Optimization
- Provide daily Financial Aid System support to all financial aid users.
- Troubleshoot and resolve general functional inquiries, query requests, and other inquiries related to financial aid systems, system setup, and production-related issues.
- Maintain system security, configurations, and access controls.
- Implement data integrity protocols and quality assurance standards.
- Ensure efficient utilization of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and other financial aid systems.
- Business Process Analysis & Strategic Improvement
- Assist with the analysis of future system business needs, performing quality control measures to address system compliance, document financial aid processes, gap analysis, and ensuring data integrity.
- Design and document functional workflows, re-engineering business processes based on evolving regulations.
- Translate end-user needs into actionable system enhancements and automation strategies.
- Oversee data exchanges with internal and external partners, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Facilitate and maintain data security integration.
- Assist in the implementation of upgrades, bundles, and patches.
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing revised delivered system specifications.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Consult with end users and create design plans through investigation of current processes and needs.
- Act as liaison between business units and IT, translating technical concepts into functional solutions.
- Support system-related projects, upgrades, and implementations, including testing and validation phases.
- Facilitate training and knowledge-sharing for staff across departments.
- Provide suggestions to the core team during the development stage to meet business needs.
- Communicate modification change requests with internal and external teams to deliver functional requirements.
- Provide status updates to development teams.
- Manage and document any change requests related to working project plans.
- Reporting & Data Analysis
- Collect and analyze the organization’s business requirements and transfer the knowledge to functional and technical development teams.
- Facilitate business process re-engineering based on new regulatory requirements.
- Generate and maintain financial aid reports, tracking system performance and compliance.
- Collaborate with finance and enrollment teams on data analytics to drive strategic decision-making.
- Prepare accurate and detailed requirement specification documents, user interface guides, and functional specification documents.
- Document the acquired results of analysis and workflow by designing test scenarios.
- Assist in the evaluation of data collected through task analysis to ensure program accuracy by coordinating with business unit groups who test, validate, and evaluate new applications and functions.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
- Three (3) years of professional full-time related administrative experience.
- Experience with queries using SQL and/or PS Query, proficiency in data analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience designing and documenting workflows.
- Ability to analyze and document complex business processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in business, technology, or finance.
- PeopleSoft experience.
- Experience working in a Financial Aid office.
- Experience with external partner system integration (third-party applications).
- Experience in multiple modules of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, especially financial aid modules.
- Experience translating end users’ needs to process flows.
- Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
Pay
$70,000 - $80,000 annual base salary.
