About the role

The Business Systems Analyst I assists in the analysis, specifications, and design of automated systems, implements new systems, modifies existing ones, investigates business solutions, provides application support, and recommends system improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates problems related to business solutions and provides application support.
  • Examines existing and new systems for improvement, reports common issues, evaluates company performance, and recommends new system procedures.
  • Creates and implements reports and analysis to maximize the effectiveness of healthcare business management initiatives and strategies.
  • Gathers and writes functional specifications, performs workflow analysis, acts as a liaison between the customer and the technical team, and provides project management support.
  • Develops test plans and test scripts, provides analytical expertise to support data quality improvement, and recommends methods to minimize workloads.
  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Aids in the design of new computer programs by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, and writing specifications.
  • Improves systems by studying current practices, designing modifications, and recommending controls.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
  • Provides references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation and providing help desk support.
  • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Consults with users and other Information Systems resources to discover opportunities for process improvement and increase user effectiveness/productivity using application systems, networking, and hardware resources; providing recommendations and offering best practices advice.
  • Aid in the planning, development, and coordination of system testing and validation on a regular basis as necessary for system patches and upgrades to ensure quality and functionality.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with software and support vendors to ensure system issues are documented and addressed by the vendor in a timely manner.
  • Ensures IS and system user departments are informed of any overdue updates and ensures the hardware meets software vendor minimum recommended specifications.
  • Participates in the planning, design, and implementation/upgrade/migration projects as required.
  • Provides system process knowledge, performs configuration tasks, writes/runs reports, and other tasks in support of the project team as assigned.
  • Create, review, and update documentation on an as-needed basis for responsible systems.
  • Develop technical documentation for system support.
  • Maintain current hardware and/or software and vendor information for systems supported.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Completes goals as assigned by applications directors, managers, or supervisors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information encountered in support of application systems as outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant experience is preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry and business management principles.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
