About the role

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for the HRIS department within University Human Resources. The Business Systems Analyst role is a highly analytical and detail-oriented position on our HRIS department. This role will serve as a strategic partner between UHR stakeholders and IT, supporting the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of HR systems—particularly in areas such as payroll, benefits, talent management, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter expertise for the implementation process of Oracle HCM Cloud.
  • Coincides with integration developers to build and maintain system interfaces, web services, and file-based interfaces to support HR initiatives in areas of benefit administration, talent acquisition, performance management, ethics & compliance.
  • Translates business requirements into functional specifications and system design documents.
  • Conducts gap analysis and recommends system enhancements to improve HR processes.
  • Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for PeopleSoft HRIS users.
  • Conducts and performs UAT (user acceptance testing) for any new configuration & deployments.
  • Troubleshoots data mismatches across HRIS and downstream / connected systems.
  • Ensures data compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilizes data and metrics to assess HR strategies.
  • Ensures data integrity through regular audits, validations, and reconciliation processes.
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex system or data-related issues.
  • Acts as a liaison between technical teams and business units, ensuring alignment of system capabilities with organizational goals.

Requirements

Experience in higher education, healthcare, or large enterprise environments.

Background in supporting unionized workforces and interpreting collective bargaining agreements (e.g., CNA agreements).

Prior involvement in HR system upgrades, cloud migrations, or enterprise-wide implementations.

Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.
