About the role

We are seeking a Business Supervisor for our Emergency Department to reinforce departmental training, support staff, and ensure efficient operations within Patient Access. This role serves as a leader and resource both within and across departments, maintaining high standards of patient care and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce departmental training and education guidelines for scheduling and registration staff using applications such as ADS, OneSource, US Pay, and Paragon.
  • Assist with training employees and communicate schedule/registration changes and audit results to appropriate parties.
  • Escalate patient care barriers to department leadership as necessary.
  • Assist with testing new upgrades for Patient Access software and workflows.
  • Perform monthly reviews of downtime registration and scheduling forms across all areas.
  • Provide expert knowledge and support to staff, acting as a leader and resource inter- and intradepartmentally.
  • Maintain regular communication with outpatient and inpatient department leaders throughout the Medical Center.
  • Assist in creating monthly reports on staff productivity and metrics, and maintain audit and reconciliation logs for staff review.
  • Ensure Patient Access staff optimize Resource Scheduling and Registration, recommending changes or enhancements to the management team.
  • Execute departmental memos affecting users during weekend and overnight shifts, and communicate changes to external departments.
  • Organize procedural manuals and reference tools to ensure consistent, efficient, and effective operations within Patient Access.
  • Review Financial Assistance applications in the ED and schedule/refer patients to Financial Assistance if further care is needed.
  • Review transfers, admissions, direct admits, and discharges to ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Monitor staff productivity related to insurance verification, co-pay collection, financial assistance applications, chart creations, order fulfillment, and general registrations.
  • Review time and attendance and escalate issues as needed.
  • Uphold Customer Service standards: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness, with timely, professional, and caring responses.
  • Maintain departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Assess gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary updates to address them.
  • Understand and adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Direct the department and manage daily operations in the absence of the Manager and Director.
  • Provide coverage in any Patient Access area as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of training and healthcare experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English as required by the position.

Pay

$55,000–$77,000 per year.
