About the role

We’re seeking a Business Operations Director for our Crypto business. This role will report into our Head of Crypto and will be a trusted partner for the leadership team, focusing on high-impact strategic projects, data analysis, and driving efficient processes. Business Operations works with many teams within SoFi. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic thinker who can work cross-functionally to solve complex challenges with uncertain inputs and outputs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team operations across Crypto, including advising on and setting meeting cadences, agendas, and content for team meetings (within and across business units/functions), taking notes, and managing follow-ups where appropriate.
  • Identify areas to optimize processes and increase efficiencies, leveraging AI, developing recommendations, and driving execution of solutions.
  • Partner with Crypto teams to help set Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) each year and quarter (including numerical targets), identify opportunities, and assess risks to meeting these OKRs.
  • Gather requirements and dependencies from other business units to inform roadmaps and priorities.
  • Lead quarterly and annual planning for the Crypto Business Unit, partnering closely with leaders (specifically business operations leads and chiefs of staff) to coordinate materials, align initiatives, and improve cross-team efficiency. This includes:
    • Working with Finance and Product Design to determine timelines and requirements for planning.
    • Managing company timelines by working backward from deadlines to set milestones and keep the team organized.
    • Organizing work to meet planning requirements across teams (business operations, business leads, finance, product, marketing, data science, etc.).
    • Owning content creation to support planning, Board, Executive, and Regulatory updates, including performance against OKRs and analyses on “the why.”
  • Support planning sessions and offsites by advising on agendas, creating templates and content, driving follow-ups, tracking action items, and providing support to business and product teams during sessions.
  • Lead key communications and reporting for the Crypto Business Unit, including:
    • Updates for Executive Staff and leadership on Crypto priorities, issues, risks, and dependencies.
    • Helping Crypto teams track, monitor, and analyze performance against OKRs, including setting up dashboards and running ad hoc analyses.
    • Advising on and crafting communications within the BU and with stakeholders.
  • Support risk management initiatives, including establishing an operating framework, setting agendas, facilitating conversations, and escalating roadblocks with business leads and control partners.
  • Responsible for vendor management and invoicing for the Crypto Business Unit.
  • Serve as the primary business liaison for engagement with internal audit, ensuring organizational readiness and overseeing timely remediation of control findings.
  • Support a robust business control framework by partnering with stakeholders to proactively identify operational risks and drive process improvements.
  • Serve as the “strategic advisor” for the BU, leveraging intimate knowledge of the business and its role within the organization to represent the Crypto BU as needed.
  • Maintain a pulse on the team and key stakeholders to advise on improvements for the BU and cross-functional impact to drive greater efficiency and team health.
  • Personally own and drive marquee projects (especially those with cross-functional impact) that support business objectives.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, management consulting, chief of staff, or related roles.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or digital assets/crypto industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior leadership (VP+ level).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL, spreadsheet modeling, and/or BI tools (Tableau, Looker, etc.) to independently pull and analyze data.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional programs from ambiguity through execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex topics into concise executive-ready materials.
  • Experience with OKR frameworks, strategic planning processes, and operating cadences at scale.
  • Ability to context-switch rapidly and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • MBA preferred.
  • Understanding of crypto/digital asset market dynamics, regulatory landscape (SEC, CFTC, state money transmitter frameworks), and industry trends.
  • Experience with risk management frameworks, internal audit processes, or business controls in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with AI/automation tools and a track record of applying them to drive operational efficiency.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
