Business Operations
About the role
Check is looking for its first dedicated Business Operations role to help turn insight into action. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll partner directly with leaders across the organization to solve some of Check's most pressing business issues. This role spans everything from building financial and analytical frameworks to working with stakeholders through execution of recommendations. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, excels at structured problem solving, and is comfortable working through ambiguity.
Responsibilities
- Own high-priority, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end — from scoping and analysis through execution and measurement
- Work directly with leaders across Check to define and prioritize the most critical strategic questions facing the business
- Identify operational bottlenecks and design process improvements that drive efficiency and margin across the business
- Develop and maintain critical operating metrics and reporting cadences, translating data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Apply AI tools and agents to analysis, reporting, and workflow design as a core part of how you operate
Qualifications
- 6+ years of total work experience, including 2+ years in investment banking or consulting and 2+ years in a high-growth startup (Business Operations, Strategy & Ops or Strategic Finance preferred)
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills
- Ability to distill complex, ambiguous issues into structured frameworks and clear recommendations
- Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy and shifting priorities
- Ability to build relationships and drive alignment across functions and seniority levels
- Familiarity with AI tools/agents to accelerate workflows
Bonus Points
- Experience in fintech, payments, or embedded/vertical SaaS
- SQL proficiency or equivalent analytical depth
Travel & Office Policy
The Check team is distributed across the US. Roles can be remote, hybrid, or based in one of our offices in New York City or San Francisco. We offer ample opportunities and encourage employees to attend team offsites, events, and hackathons throughout the year. All Checketeers gather in the spring for our annual 3-day company retreat.
For in-office and hybrid employees, our offices are open all week. We provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and host regular happy hours, game nights, and other in-person events. Remote work requires the ability to perform all responsibilities without distraction or disruption while maintaining quality, effective communication, and productivity.
