About the role

The Business Office Manager (BOM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business office operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and maximizing revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates commitment to the companys mission, values, and ethical standards.
  • Provides assistance to co-workers and promotes teamwork.
  • Treats residents with fairness, dignity, and respect, protecting their rights.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of financial operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Compiles, audits, and documents financial data.
  • Safeguards facility assets through internal controls.
  • Ensures timely and accurate billing to various payers.
  • Monitors and collects past due accounts to meet receivable targets.
  • Reviews and assesses delinquent accounts for potential collections or write-offs.
  • Prepares and submits A/R review documentation and reports.
  • Ensures Medi-Cal eligibility and obtains necessary identification cards.
  • Collects charges from vendors and ensures timely payment of accounts payable.
  • Oversees payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Audits salary increases, retroactive pay, and benefits.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of the Resident Trust Account.
  • Reports resident account activity and conducts follow-up reviews.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date business records and files.
  • Reviews and addresses issues identified by financial/administrative review and internal audit reports.
  • Ensures adherence to state and federal regulations, including HIPAA confidentiality standards.
  • Supervises and directs department personnel, setting departmental standards and objectives.
  • Assists in developing and implementing department budget and ensuring expenses are within budgeted parameters.
  • Maintains confidentiality and discreetly handles sensitive information.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years experience in healthcare billing, preferably in long-term care environment.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree from an accredited college with specialization in business or accounting.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Public Notary preferred.
  • Ability to understand and implement healthcare reimbursement, billing, and accounting principles.
  • Ability to understand and control direct spending and labor budgets.
  • Ability to represent the company ethically and professionally.
  • Willingness to work beyond normal hours, weekends, holidays, and other shifts.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and deadline management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Sound knowledge of basic mathematical concepts and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills.
  • Strong creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to inspire trust and respect, and motivate staff.
  • Strategic thinking, change management, and future orientation.
