Business Manager - Modeling and Advanced Data Insights

We are modernizing how Capital One identifies potential money laundering, terrorist financing, and human trafficking through advanced analytic techniques, statistics, and machine learning models. Our team develops data sourcing, predictive models, monitoring, and reporting using tools such as AWS, Snowflake, Python, and Spark. As a model developer, you will be responsible for end-to-end development, deployment, and monitoring of critical risk management models.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced machine learning model development, continuous performance monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
• Oversee model governance and ensure full alignment with internal risk frameworks.
• Serve as the primary lead for handling all related internal audit and OCC regulatory requests.
• Develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success amid shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
• Manage and mentor 1-2 analysts, fostering talent development and retention.
• Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for lending products; lead product-level modeling and analytics.
• Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts and strategic initiatives for retail-distributed products.
• Build targeted insights to inform new customer experiences and breakthrough technology concepts.
• Drive step-change improvements in credit performance through risk models and rigorous analysis.
• Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements, and execute product strategy.
• Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.
• Partner with colleagues across IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other teams to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis.
• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following degrees (to be completed on or before the scheduled start date):
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field).
  • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Business or a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, or Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in analysis.
• 2+ years of experience in financial services.
• 2+ years of experience in people management.
• 1+ year of experience in consulting.
• 1+ year of experience in AML, Sanctions, Compliance, Risk, or Fraud.
• 1+ year of model design, development, and deployment experience.
• 1+ year of supervised machine learning models experience.
• 1+ year of experience with Python, SQL, or AWS.

Pay

The annual full-time salary ranges for this role are as follows (part-time salaries will be prorated):

• McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100
• Plano, TX: $149,800 - $171,000
• Richmond, VA: $149,800 - $171,000

Candidates hired for other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
