We are looking for a contract Business Litigation Attorney to support a legal team in Santa Clarita, California. This role is ideal for a California-barred attorney with experience in commercial, real estate, probate, and trust disputes.
About the role
This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with lead counsel and play a meaningful part in advancing complex litigation matters from early assessment through ongoing case strategy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare motions, pleadings, and other litigation filings with careful attention to legal strategy, factual support, and procedural requirements.
- Conduct legal research and develop written analysis to support case positions, hearings, and dispute resolution efforts.
- Manage discovery activities, including drafting requests, preparing responses, reviewing produced materials, and identifying key evidence.
- Assist in briefing for contested matters involving business, real estate, probate, and trust-related claims.
- Collaborate with supervising counsel on case planning, argument development, and day-to-day litigation priorities.
- Review case documents, correspondence, and records to help assess claims, defenses, and litigation risk.
- Support hearing and court preparation by organizing materials, refining arguments, and meeting filing deadlines.
Requirements
- Active California Bar license in good standing.
- At least 2 years of experience handling civil litigation matters.
- Demonstrated ability to draft motions, pleadings, and other substantive litigation documents.
- Strong legal research and analytical writing skills, including experience preparing briefs.
- Practical knowledge of discovery procedures and document review in contested matters.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Experience working on business litigation matters; exposure to real estate, probate, or trust disputes is valued.
