Business Lending Specialist Sr. - Grand Rapids, MI area

This role covers multiple branches in the Grand Rapids and Lansing districts, including Caledonia, Grand Rapids – Eastcastle, Grand Rapids – Plainfield Ave, Grand Rapids – Waters Circle, Greenville – West Washington, Kentwood, Okemos, West Saginaw Highway, and Battle Creek – Riverside. Your office may be located at any of these sites.

About the role

The Business Lending Specialist Sr. will evaluate loan applications, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with lending policies and regulations, with a focus on business lending within financial services.

Responsibilities

• Drive business development activity across a specific geography, collaborating with external referral sources and internal retail partners.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with business clients, providing exceptional customer service and support.
• Evaluate and process business loan applications, including analyzing financial statements and credit reports.
• Provide guidance and support to clients throughout the loan application and approval process.
• Take on leadership roles in team initiatives and mentor retail and business banking partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in business banking, business development, credit, and lending.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and assess creditworthiness.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
• Knowledge of lending regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to present effectively in front of clients and centers of influence (COIs).
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Work Arrangement

This is an office-based role. Certain positions outside our branch network may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, combining in-office and remote work. Remote roles will have opportunities to collaborate in our offices for key moments. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.

This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay.
