About the role
The Business Investment and Economic Competitiveness Division Director leads the Business Investment Group (BIG) and is responsible for advancing Arlington’s long-term economic competitiveness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategies that attract investment, support business growth, strengthen the commercial tax base, and reinforce Arlington’s position as one of America’s most consequential urban economies.
- Manage a team of professional economic development staff.
- Work closely with the Economic Development Director, AED’s senior leadership, County departments, and regional, state, and private sector partners to position Arlington as a premier destination for business investment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.
Requirements
Experience in economic development, strategic planning, and collaboration with public and private sector partners is required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in economics, business administration, or related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay
$150,000 - $175,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
