Business Director, Network Strategy and Intelligence

This role sits within Network Risk Strategy and Intelligence, a newly formed, high-impact internal strategy arm at the frontier of Capital One’s evolution into a global payment network. You will own the strategic roadmap and competitive risk-reward evaluation for critical network imperatives, acting as the primary trusted advisor to senior executive leadership. Success requires blending high-level strategic vision with deep analytical rigor to drive initiatives that modernize processes with data and AI.
Responsibilities
- Develop business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and competitive success amid shifting consumer and regulatory demands.
- Manage and develop multiple analysts, coaching and mentoring associates to retain talent.
- Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for lending products; lead product-level data modeling and analytics.
- Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel; build targeted insights to inform customer experience design and breakthrough technology.
- Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses through rigorous monitoring and analysis.
- Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements, and execute against product strategy; oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.
- Partner closely with colleagues across IT, Sales, Operations, Finance, and other functions to improve quality, volume, service, and profitability.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis
- At least 4 years of experience performing qualitative analysis
- At least 2 years of experience performing people management
- At least 2 years of experience performing project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 2+ years of experience in financial services
- 1+ year of experience in consulting
Skills
- Strategic and analytic orientation with a proven track record of decision-making and problem-solving based on analytics
- Strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity; ability to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business
- Solid people leadership experience: ability to build and leverage high-performing teams and foster innovation
- Strong executive communication skills: impeccable written and oral communication, strategic influencing, and negotiation skills
- Clear results orientation with an intense focus on achieving both short and long-term goals in uncertain environments
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic settings (previous consulting experience is a plus)
Pay
The annual salary ranges for this role by location are as follows:
- McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000
- New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900
- Riverwoods, IL: $209,500 - $239,100
- Chicago, IL: $209,500 - $239,100
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
