At Capital One, we are relentless innovators with a proven track record of transforming customers’ experiences and the financial services industry. We’re delivering best-in-class innovation so that our more than 100 million customers can manage their finances with ease. We consider ourselves the bank a technology company would build—empowered to use artificial intelligence (from machine learning to generative AI) to transform everyday banking into real-time, intelligent products that help customers improve their financial well-being. We’re all-in on the cloud and are a leader in the adoption of open source. We build our own products and release them with a speed and agility that allows us to get new customer experiences to market quickly.

About the Role

The Director, Analytics and Transformation, will support strategic priorities for the Consumer and Developer Experience (CDX) leadership team. The CDX organization drives the critical platforms that power world-class digital engagement for our customers and best-in-class tools for the developers who build them. Our diverse portfolio spans the Capital One mobile app, advanced marketing and personalization engines, AI-driven platforms that transform how we build software, and essential enterprise risk and supplier capabilities. By unifying these consumer, developer, and enterprise operations, CDX accelerates our ability to modernize core systems, strengthen the company's risk posture, and deliver seamless experiences at massive scale.

The Director will join a horizontal product and strategy team that supports priorities across CDX. This team serves as an internal engine for both vision and strategic alignment, operating at the intersection of strategic advisory and product creation. We solve the organization’s hardest strategic questions with the rigor of top-tier consulting, drive the annual planning process, and align long-term priorities. Simultaneously, we act as an innovation lab, developing prototypes and partnering with product and engineering teams to translate conceptual visions into tangible, scaled digital experiences.

This role focuses on two key priorities: business intelligence and analytics, and organizational transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with CDX leaders to define business strategies for their respective areas
  • Tackle thorny strategic questions throughout the business using a consulting-style model
  • Lead priority strategic initiatives for CDX, such as AI transformation
  • Support the organization’s intelligence unit by providing analytics, landscape assessments, thematic deep dives, and more to help anticipate headwinds and tailwinds
  • Set the vision for long-term product innovation, including partnering with engineering to deliver product prototypes
  • Lead a team of strategy and product people leaders and individual contributors, investing in their development and creating a talent pipeline for the organization
  • Obsess about internal and external customer satisfaction by establishing trusted relationships with key stakeholders
  • Cultivate a dynamic, customer-centric, and mission-oriented product culture, fostering collaboration and developing talent
  • Role model AI adoption by inventing and spreading solutions that improve work efficiency, quality, and engagement

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a strategic problem solver with a highly collaborative working style, excelling at building relationships across organizational boundaries. This leader should thrive in ambiguity with an owner’s mindset and the ability to build scalable, adaptable product strategies.

  • Exceptional strategy and problem-solving skills, with a record of addressing hard questions in ambiguous areas
  • Strong product orientation, including understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that drive results
  • Innovation mindset, characterized by future orientation, vision-setting, and a willingness to push boundaries
  • Outstanding people leadership with a collaborative, inspiring, and supportive style
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, fostering trusted partnerships across all organizational levels and disciplines
  • Ability to establish credibility with senior leaders and colleagues from diverse backgrounds (e.g., data scientists, P&L owners, designers, engineers)
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in experimenting with new technologies, organizational models, and ways of thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to employ judgment and experience in making rapid, complex decisions
  • Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
