About the role

The Business Development Specialist will be the market and application expert for assigned product(s). This role actively pursues new business opportunities at both end users and distribution channels, coordinating with Territory Managers and the Director of Sales to meet assigned product revenue and net contribution margin dollar goals.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the solution “expert” for the markets and applications of the assigned product.
  • For select accounts, act as the primary contact, promoting IPG program and product solutions to effectively sell the bundle within the assigned region.
  • Accountable for Revenue and Net CM$ quotas for assigned product(s) within the territory, collaborating with Territory Managers, Division Product leaders, Product Management, Market Solutions, and Systems/Service teams.
  • Prospect key end users, as assigned by the Manager, within the assigned territory.
  • Support Distributor Sales Reps at the end user to close business.
  • Assist Territory Managers, as the solution expert, to close end user business and distributor conversions.
  • Manage qualified prospects through the sales cycle until the close of business.
  • Coordinate with Territory Business Managers and the Director of Sales to assign the appropriate distribution partner to service closed business.
  • Partner with distributors to identify complex end user opportunities and appropriate solutions as directed by the manager.
  • Train Distributor Sales Reps on the features, benefits, and application solutions of the product line.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of IPG products, features, functionalities, capabilities, and distribution channels.
  • Effectively communicate the IPG value proposition to customers.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in client meetings regarding implementation, best practices, products and features, and partnerships.
  • Act as a field feedback loop for product development.

Requirements

  • BA or BS Degree from an accredited university or college.
  • 4-7 years of business development or sales experience in a related field (preferably industrial or packaging sales).
  • “Hunter” mentality and competitive drive.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive “customer service” mindset and ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must be able to travel by air or vehicle independently.
