Business Development Specialist
About the role

As a Business Development Specialist, you will create and build client relationships while leading efforts to obtain projects. This role develops and facilitates the proposal process for specific clients, including business terms, proposal writing, contract negotiations, and client presentations.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of qualifications, proposals, and presentations by collaborating with business development team members, project managers, estimators, and corporate support groups.
- Assist in coordinating proposal efforts by gathering project information, tracking deliverables, and helping define project scope, team responsibilities, and submission requirements.
- Draft and edit proposal narratives, qualifications packages, and marketing materials to effectively communicate the company's capabilities and project approach.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure proposal deadlines are met and all required documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with client requirements.
- Communicate proposal outcomes and client feedback to internal stakeholders, ensuring project teams understand client expectations, schedules, and next steps.
- Maintain proposal logs, CRM records, and business development reports to track opportunities, pursuits, and project status.
- Help build and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and industry partners to support new business opportunities.
- Participate in client meetings, networking events, pre-bid conferences, and site visits as needed.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives, including research on prospective clients, market trends, and upcoming project opportunities.
- Assist with other business development and marketing activities that support the team's goals and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- 2+ years of business development, marketing, estimating, project coordination, or related experience within a general contractor, construction management firm, subcontractor, engineering, architecture, or related construction industry organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Communications, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience supporting proposal development, qualifications packages, presentations, or client pursuit efforts is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional, and persuasive documents.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Adobe InDesign, CRM platforms, or proposal management software is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail, initiative, problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused mindset.
- Willingness to attend networking events, client meetings, and occasional site visits.

- This role is not performed in a remote capacity; all work is completed in an office/job site setting.
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Pay
$85,000 - $120,000 annually
