Business Development Manager (Location Flexible)

About the role

The Capitol Forum is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their growing sales team. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this role involves prospecting, developing, and closing new business within a designated territory.

Responsibilities

• Execute the firm’s sales strategy by driving new clients and maintaining existing clients brought on board.
• Proactively self-generate new leads through cold calling, email outreach, and prospecting.
• Achie assigned territory revenue goals.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of The Capitol Forum’s products and value proposition.
• Engage inbound leads from marketing campaigns, conferences, and inquiries.
• Build and maintain a robust prospective client pipeline.
• Conduct meetings, trials, and product demonstrations with prospects.
• Maintain accurate sales activity reports and forecasts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support growth initiatives.

Qualifications/Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• 2+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in information, research, or media services.
• Strong client-facing communication skills; comfort discussing complex subject matter.
• Prominent ability to generate and close new business independently.
• Excellent written, verbal, and negotiation skills.
• Enthusiastic, driven, and highly self-motivated.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $75,000–$85,000, depending on experience, plus uncapped commission.
