About the Role
This position reports to the Vice President of Business Development, leading and managing activities to identify and secure DoD growth opportunities, primarily focusing on the U.S. Air Force. The role requires established relationships with senior Air Force leadership, acquisition officials, program offices, and technical stakeholders to shape acquisition strategies and position HII solutions for growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of opportunities from exploratory through qualification.
- Monitor the Operation’s pipeline, establish BD priorities, and allocate resources.
- Provide leadership and oversight for pursuits/capture activities to meet/exceed business development goals.
- Refine the strategic plan and develop a pipeline of opportunities to increase market share and revenue.
- Conduct market and competitor analysis to position HII’s strengths and competencies.
- Coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, and teammates to gain market insights.
- Participate in business planning activities, including pipeline reviews, proposal development, and gate reviews.
- Develop and maintain strategic account plans for Air Force customers.
- Leverage relationships to identify, shape, and capture new business opportunities.
- Represent HII with senior Air Force leadership and translate mission requirements into actionable strategies.
- Execute all phases of large, multi-year capture efforts, including strategic planning, competitive analysis, and proposal development.
- Maintain opportunity records in Salesforce and ensure transparency in capture activities.
- Travel as required (25%).
Qualifications
- 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 6 years with a Master’s degree.
- Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. Air Force customers with established relationships across senior leadership, acquisition, and technical organizations.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic account plans for Air Force customers.
- Experience with successful execution of large, multi-year capture efforts.
- Knowledge of various contract types (FFP, T&M, cost plus, OTA, CSO, IDIQ).
- Willingness to develop winning proposals, including research, analysis, and writing.
- Ability to leverage internal and external experts.
- Current or ability to obtain a TS clearance is desired.
Preferred Requirements
- Located in Northern VA.
- DoD Acquisition program experience (Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, etc.).
Pay
Anticipated Salary Range: $128,255.00 - $200,000.00
