Business Development Financial Analyst
About the role
The Business Development Financial Analyst is responsible for financial evaluations related to Crestline’s business development efforts—including underwriting equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, and asset pro formas—and for financial planning and analysis for the company itself. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer but will also support other departments requiring financial analysis. Based in Crestline’s corporate headquarters in Old Town Fairfax, the role may involve limited travel opportunities but should not expect significant travel initially.
This individual must be analytical, deciphering financial data to effectively review and evaluate investment opportunities and assess the performance of individual real estate assets in Crestline’s portfolio, as well as the company’s corporate financial results. The candidate must identify problems and develop innovative solutions to drive continuous process improvements. The successful candidate will be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to perform a variety of tasks under time pressure and tight deadlines. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who is also a team player and can collaborate effectively across departments.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and benchmark investment opportunities (real estate assets and hospitality companies).
- Work with the senior analyst to create pro forma projections and financial models.
- Create effective PowerPoint and infographic presentations for key stakeholders.
- Support the executive team in assessing corporate strategic plans and providing analytical support.
- Identify and drive continuous process improvements.
- Draft business memos summarizing financial analysis.
- Assist other departments with ad-hoc financial analyses, including:
- Crestline accounting team’s work on corporate forecasts and annual budgets.
- Risk management’s analysis of insurance programs and competitive benchmarking.
- Operations’ review of competitive strengths.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university) in Finance, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Relevant work or internship experience.
- Fluency with Excel to run internal rates of return, net present values, and data sensitivity tables.
- Proven track record of proactively problem-solving complex issues.
- Ability to thrive in an environment that is both strategic and creative, requiring rapid learning, multitasking, and prioritizing under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and continuous process improvement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively, independently, and as a strategic partner in a team environment.
