Business Development Coordinator - Emerging Technologies
About the Role
The Business Development Coordinator will handle marketing administrative tasks, help implement business development tactics for the Emerging Technologies group, and support related practice teams and task forces across Reed Smith offices. This role supports firmwide marketing and business development initiatives, including client/prospect research, bio updates, graphic design, pitches, proposals, events, webinars, social media, blog posts, client alerts, internal newsletters, and experience tracking.
The coordinator will contribute as a core member of the Emerging Technologies team, leading tasks and interacting with attorneys to organize internal and external initiatives such as monthly newsletters, reports, meeting coordination, award submissions, and social media promotion.
Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Business Development Manager in global business development and marketing efforts for the Emerging practice group.
- Coordinate pitch materials, presentations, and responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs); assist in creating and editing materials.
- Interact with Emerging Technologies Group Leaders and attorneys on firmwide business development activities; maintain strong working relationships with lawyers across practice groups.
- Edit marketing collateral, including practice area descriptions and attorney biographies for print, website, and intranet; facilitate updates to firm platforms.
- Coordinate Emerging Technologies webinars, including scheduling, logistics, invitations, promotion, and follow-up tasks.
- Prepare and edit drafts of industry survey submissions; maintain repositories of practice group accolades and awards.
- Coordinate Reed Smith’s participation in local and national conferences, including attorney RSVPs, advertisements, giveaways, and sponsorship materials.
- Assist in planning Reed Smith-hosted client seminars and events, including invitations, venue logistics, speaker coordination, and event promotion.
- Manage attorney experience and client information in firmwide databases and CRM systems; maintain industry group intranet sites.
- Produce internal marketing materials, including monthly newsletters, mailing lists, internal blogs, and capabilities documents.
- Draft, edit, and coordinate posting for the Emerging Technologies blog and social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter).
- Develop group and strategy meeting agendas, presentations, and meeting summaries.
- Travel for meetings and trainings as required.
Requirements
- College degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in a professional services marketing role (desirable but not required).
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, strong writing ability, and a positive attitude.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn new database systems.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and self-directed; able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Strong professional judgment and poise when interacting with internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and able to handle multiple daily tasks within set timelines.
Schedule
- Minimum 4 days per week in the office.
- Occasional early start times to support collaboration with international stakeholders in EMEA.
- May require hours beyond the normal schedule as needed.
Pay
This is a non-exempt position with an hourly wage range of $33.65 to $50.54, and an estimated annual compensation range of $70,000 to $92,000 based on expected hours. Actual pay may vary by location and experience:
- Atlanta/Dallas: $33.65 – $41.82 per hour (~$70,000 – $87,000 annually for a 40-hour workweek).
- Chicago: $38.46 – $50.54 per hour (~$70,000 – $92,000 annually for a 35-hour workweek).
