Hybrid position located in Springfield, Missouri.

About the role

The Business Development Manager generates measurable growth in assigned strategic geographic areas and/or service lines, commercial or ancillary services, enabling exceptional service and care at an affordable price to healthcare consumers in our geographic (and virtual) footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex data and information for planning and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and business development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of external audiences and organizational levels, including hospital and clinic presidents.
  • Utilize CRM/PRM tools for pipeline and activity management/prioritization.
  • Create and deliver effective presentations to various constituents, including physicians, board members, facility leadership, and operations leadership.
  • Negotiate and close business development opportunities.
  • Focus on desired outcomes and prepare specific business development and/or operational plans to achieve them.
  • Apply financial, accounting, and budgeting knowledge to analyze business opportunities.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of sales experience, with a strong track record of delivering results at or above plan; medical sales experience preferred.
  • Experience in health system strategic planning and/or business development, or pharmaceutical sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business administration, or advanced equivalent certification required. Commensurate experience may substitute for the degree or certification.
  • Master’s in Health Services Administration, MBA, or related advanced degree preferred.

Skills

  • Confirmed sales/business development experience.
  • Ability to understand and articulate Mercy’s Mission, Vision, and Integrated Marketing branding, strategy, and policy.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills (written and oral).
  • Comfort with daily CRM/PRM usage for pipeline and activity management.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; financial background a plus.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • High degree of integrity and moral character.
  • Ability to create constructive tension and focus on desired outcomes.
