Business Consultant
About the role
The Business Consultant role is responsible for translating business needs into application software requirements, serving as a subject matter expert in Value-Based Affinity and Attribution analytics, membership reporting, and ad hoc data support. This role guides analytical strategies and supports business decision-making across Value-Based Health Programs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze attribution, affinity, membership, claims, provider, and utilization data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and business impacts.
- Serve as a primary contact for Markets, Advisors, and business partners for ad hoc inquiries related to attribution, membership, provider alignment, and performance metrics.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance recurring reports, dashboards, and data extracts.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues, including attribution discrepancies, membership inconsistencies, and provider population variances.
- Collaborate with business, IT, and data engineering teams to implement new reporting capabilities and improve existing processes.
- Might lead teams of analysts assigned to complex projects.
- Determine specific business application software requirements to address complex and varied business needs.
- Analyze and design solutions to address complex and varied business needs.
- Consult with business partners concerning application and implementation of technology.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) and minimum of 8 years of business analysis experience, which should include analysis and project management; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
- Strong experience with relational databases and advanced SQL.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business insights.
- Experience supporting cross-functional stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- Experience in healthcare analytics, especially Value-Based Care, Attribution, or Affinity models.
- Proficiency in tools such as SAS, Python, R, or similar analytical platforms.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with Agile environments, data pipelines, and ETL processes.
- Experience in mentoring or leading analysts.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, And Experiences
- Knowledge of systems capabilities and business operations is strongly preferred.
- Experience in healthcare analytics, especially Value-Based Care, Attribution, or Affinity models.
- Proficiency in tools such as SAS, Python, R, or similar analytical platforms.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with Agile environments, data pipelines, and ETL processes.
- Experience in mentoring or leading analysts.

Pay
The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company. The salary range is the range Elevance Health in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
Schedule
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Location
Hybrid 1: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace.

Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.
