About the role

We build technology for the local church. Our platform, APlay, puts media, curriculum and family resources into the hands of church leaders so they can disciple kids, parents and whole congregations. When we say our people are our greatest strength, we really do mean it. We live and breathe a people-first culture every day. You'll get hands-on coaching and direct access to leadership with no layers and no gatekeeping. You'll have a seat at the table with customers, partners and the executive team when decisions get made. And you'll have genuine scope from day one: you'll own requirements for named products end to end, not fragments of someone else's spec. We're not just here to build tools that stand out in the faith space. We're here to build solutions that are world-class regardless of sector.

APlay spans a web application, a native mobile app, Apple TV, partner integrations and multiple storefronts. Churches use it to access curriculum and media, plan and deliver what happens on a Sunday, and extend that content to parents during the week. It's growing in every direction at once. We are not short of ideas. We are a product team that thinks big, moves fast, and is led by a founder who knows exactly what it takes to turn a humble idea into a ground-breaking product that sparks genuine global impact. We need someone who can take a strong concept and make it airtight — before a single line of code gets written. This is the role that turns a good idea into something engineering can build with confidence. You'll be the systematic, technical counterweight to a creative product function, and the work you do every day will directly equip the church leaders on the other end of it.

Responsibilities

  • Write requirements that engineering can build from — numbered, prioritised, traceable, and detailed enough that an engineer in another timezone can pick them up and get straight to work. Work through every scenario: entitlement logic, access rules, gating behaviour, migration paths, edge cases. Build the matrices that answer "what does this customer type actually get, on which surface, in which state" — and find the gaps before our customers do.
  • Own the backlog: oversee creation of tickets, set priority, get work dev-ready, and run refinement with engineering.
  • Ensure quality: design and run bug bashes, define what blocks a launch, verify fixes in staging, and make the call on whether something is ready to ship.
  • Drive release readiness: create Help Center articles, internal enablement, and training for Customer Success, Sales and Content so nobody meets a new feature cold.
  • Lead project delivery: be deep in the weeds on every project from start to finish, working alongside all stakeholders to answer questions, resolve unforeseen issues and keep execution on track for scheduled deployment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or similar — you can walk us through specs you've written and decisions you've driven. This is not a junior role.
  • Systematic thinking to an unusual degree: you are the person who finds the case nobody considered. You enumerate rather than assume. Ambiguity makes you want to map it, not avoid it.
  • Technical fluency: you can read an API spec, follow an authentication flow, reason about a data model, and hold your own in a design conversation with senior engineers. You don't need to have shipped code — you do need to be genuinely curious about how the thing works.
  • Written clarity: much of this job is writing. Your documents should leave less room for interpretation, not more.
  • Heart for the mission: genuine respect for local church leaders and the work they do every day, and a desire to build things that serve them well.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with SaaS, subscription or entitlement-based products.
  • Hands-on comfort with SQL, API clients, or building your own test scenarios.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Figma, feature-flagging tools, or product analytics platforms.
  • High fluency with AI tools as part of how you work — we use them daily and are continually looking for opportunities to enhance efficiency and output through the adoption of new technologies.

Technical environment

Day to day you'll be close to systems including Auth0, Firebase, Mux, Salesforce, HubSpot, Limio and Shopify, alongside our own in-house identity and content services. You don't need to arrive knowing all of it. You do need to want to understand it.

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and company-paid holidays.
  • Direct mentorship from product and engineering leadership, and support to keep building your craft.
  • On-site in Plano, TX — built for real-time collaboration, fast decisions, and winning together as a team.
