About the Role

In this hybrid position, reporting to the Product Data Science Lead, Supply Operations, you will play a critical role in shaping the operational safety and efficiency of Waymo’s autonomous driving services. Your primary responsibility will be to define, develop, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that assess safety and operational quality across the Operations Center. You will architect and scale data infrastructure to support automated reporting on road rule events, thereby enhancing operational transparency and safety insights. Additionally, you will analyze operational capacity to handle events, providing actionable data to optimize team performance and response protocols. Your insights will help identify response patterns, optimize workflows, and contribute to AI model training, ensuring continuous improvement in operational resilience. Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, product, and operations teams, you will translate business challenges into robust data pipelines and reporting solutions that support the company’s growth and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record of architecting and scaling data projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Extensive experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Strong analytical mindset with action-oriented approach to data insights
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations

Responsibilities

  • Define, build, and maintain KPIs and metrics to evaluate operational safety and quality
  • Architect and scale data infrastructure to support automated reporting on road rule events
  • Improve operational transparency and safety insights through data-driven reports
  • Quantify operational capacity to handle events and provide data-driven recommendations for scaling performance
  • Analyze agent response accuracy to identify performance trends and optimize workflows
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop robust data pipelines and reporting solutions
  • Support AI model training by providing insights from operational data
  • Continuously evaluate and improve data infrastructure and reporting processes
