Business Analyst II
About The Role
We are seeking an analytical and curious Business Analyst to join our product team at AAA Life Insurance. This critical role operates at the intersection of operations, data, technology, and change management. The successful candidate will partner with business stakeholders, product owners, technical teams, vendors, and project leaders to translate complex business problems into clear, actionable solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering and analyzing requirements
- Creating detailed documentation such as user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flow diagrams
- Supporting the implementation of process improvements
- Identifying operational gaps
- Supporting automation and AI initiatives
- Ensuring solutions are aligned with business objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or a related field
- 4-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or similar role
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including story mapping, backlog management, and user story creation
- Proficiency in creating process flow diagrams, requirements documentation, wireframes, and mockups
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio or equivalent tools
- Ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams and translate needs across audiences
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
- Able to work independently, manage ambiguity, and support multiple priorities effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SQL, data validation, API concepts
- Insurance industry experience
- Knowledge of automation and AI technologies
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with business partners, product owners, technical teams, and vendors
- Translate business needs into clear and actionable artifacts such as story cards, acceptance criteria, and process diagrams
- Support story mapping, persona development, backlog organization, and sprint planning activities
- Analyze current-state processes, identify friction points, and define future-state workflows that enable automation and AI solutions
- Create reports and analysis to track process improvements, validate problems, and demonstrate measurable business impact
- Use data analytics to identify operational gaps, validate assumptions, and support informed decision-making
- Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, ensuring mutual understanding of requirements, constraints, and tradeoffs
- Aid in validating technical deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with business goals
- Identify functional and non-functional needs, including usability, performance, security, and reporting requirements
- Create visual artifacts such as wireframes, mockups, and process flow diagrams to facilitate understanding and alignment
- Provide interim or stopgap solutions to bridge gaps until long-term systems or process improvements are implemented
- Escalate scope changes, risks, and delivery issues to appropriate leadership
- Maintain strong knowledge of AAA Life products, systems, and operational priorities, continuously updating skills and knowledge
