About the role
The Performance Tracking and Analytics Department (PTAD) within the Performance Management & Analytics (PMA) division of NYCHA is seeking a statistician to support the agency's efforts in providing best-in-class business analytic support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly Leased Housing reports.
- Provide statistical analyses, written trends and/or reports to inform the Executive Department of the Leased Housing Department’s performance in key areas.
- Respond to various data requests related to the Section 8 portfolio and resident demographics using SQL queries to pull the data and statistical tools such as SAS, Power BI, etc. to present the findings.
- Conduct longitudinal studies of the Section 8 administrative data.
- Compile data for the Section 8 portion of mandated reports such as the Annual Plan, Consolidated Plan, Social Indicators Report, etc.
- Aid in the development, implementation and monitoring of special projects including trend analysis of Section 8 demographics, development and analysis of performance metrics.
- Perform ad hoc statistical analyses, written trend and/or reports to assist senior and Executive staff with policy decisions such as Fair Market Rent or Utility Allowance impact analyses.
- Create dashboards for the Leased Housing Department.
- Assist business units in the planning, design, and implementation of special initiatives involving statistical research.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
- Support department leadership with special projects as needed.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in one or more of the course areas of statistics, mathematics, computer science/information technology, operations research and econometrics; 12 semester credits of which must be in statistics and/or econometrics.
- One year of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of statistical or mathematical analysis, information technology, operations research and/or econometrics.
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, mathematics, computer science/information technology, operations research, econometrics, or a closely related field.
- Advanced statistical analysis skills with excellent attention to details.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SQL, Microsoft Power BI.
- Experience developing analytic plans and conducting statistical analyses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interface well with senior Authority management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Highly organized with the ability to work under stringent deadlines, manage multiple assignments and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to create datasets, analyze data, provide written interpretations of statistical analyses and to present findings in written reports and oral presentations.
Qualifications
- One additional year of full-time professional statistical analysis experience for Assignment Level II.
- Two additional years of full-time professional statistical analysis experience for Assignment Level III.
Skills
