Duties
- Review and negotiate talent agreements across film, television, streaming, digital, endorsements, and licensing.
- Review, draft, and revise contracts including deal memos, short-form and long-form agreements, and amendments.
- Collaborate closely with agents, managers, legal counsel, and clients to structure deals that maximize value.
- Provide strategic guidance on compensation, deal terms, and rights ownership (e.g., backend participation, exclusivity, IP rights).
- Interpret and ensure compliance with guild and union rules (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, etc.).
- Identify and mitigate legal, financial, and reputational risks within agreements.
- Manage contract lifecycle, including execution, tracking deliverables, and ensuring compliance.
- Stay informed on market trends, compensation benchmarks, and emerging deal structures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active NY or CA bar admission required.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in business affairs, entertainment law, or transactional legal role.
- Foundational knowledge of entertainment contracts and industry practices.
- Strong legal drafting, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a talent agency, entertainment law firm, studio, production company or branding agency.
- Exposure to digital media, influencer/brand partnership, appearance, film, television, and NDA agreements.
- Familiarity with guild and union agreements and regulations.
