Bus Monitor
About the role
We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Bus Monitor to join our elite team in Redding, California.
Responsibilities
- Keeps order on the bus.
- Communicates behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver.
- Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, parents and students.
- Aids in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
- Aids passengers in the loading and unloading process.
- Cooperates and communicates with day programs.
- Attends all safety and training meetings.
- Conducts emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door.
- Opens and closes service doors and moves up and down steps multiple times daily.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication & customer service skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Good judgment/problem solving skills.
- Ability to manage high degrees of stress.
- Commitment to safety.
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.

Physical Requirements
- The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 150 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday;
- Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job;
- Tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
