Bus Mechanic - PT

Avis Budget Group is seeking a skilled diesel technician to maintain and repair our diesel bus fleet in Romulus, Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex repairs on diesel buses, including preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Conduct mechanical and electrical diagnostics on critical components such as belts, hoses, windshield wipers, and lighting systems.
• Maintain fleet reliability and minimize downtime to ensure safe, on-time transportation and a positive customer experience.
• Work on newer buses in a mechanical shop environment with moderate to loud noise levels.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Class B CDL may be required, depending on location.
• Minimum of 2 years of diesel repair experience.
• Complete set of hand tools required for diesel repair and maintenance.
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry.
• Flexibility to work various shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit, kneel, enter, exit, and drive vehicles.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Regular, on-site presence required; this position cannot be performed remotely.

Qualifications

• ASE certifications T1–T8 are preferred but not required.
