Qualifications
- High school or general education diploma
- Documented experience with diesel engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul
- Knowledge of tire inspection
- Possesses Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger, school bus, and air brakes endorsements or completion of CDL requirements within the first year of employment

The Bus Mechanic I will endeavor to assist the transportation supervisor with everyday operations of the Transportation Shop.Performance Responsibilities
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures
- Conducts routine inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on other fleet vehicles
- Performs maintenance and operation of equipment
- Prioritizes mechanical failures
- Inventories parts, tools, and equipment
- Maintains all shop areas
- Remain updated on safety regulations, recalls, and best practices in fleet maintenance
- Keeps and maintains shop records and reports
- Available for transportation problems that may arise after normal working hours
- Other duties, as assigned
