Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain established routes and schedules consistent with safe driving practices and passenger safety.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Fuel, clean and wash bus and report bus/servicing requirements.
- Establish a positive rapport with passengers, exhibiting friendliness and genuine concern.
- Enforce passenger conduct standards, reporting infractions as directed.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years automotive driving experience.
- Good driving record for past five (5) years.
- Department of Motor Vehicles report will be required.
- Preferred supervisory experience with groups of children.
- Will be required annually to pass all school bus driver requirements as mandated by State and Federal law.
Skills
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Perform 40-pound minimum lift stress test.
- Must be able to successfully pass the bus driver training course, including First Aid.
- Ability to pass Department of Transportation physical.
- Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
- Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
Physical Requirements
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- May work outdoors in inclement weather.
- May require physical mobility to move through a school campus, including up and down stairs and inside and outside.
Training
- $25.35/hour Probation Substitute Bus Driver.
- $33.40/hour and Probation Bus Driver: $33.72/hour after 60 workday probation period based on negotiated collective bargaining agreement.
