About the role
The primary purpose of your job position is to provide reliable and courteous transportation services to residents/patients with safety as a top priority; to provide a communication link between residents, family, and staff; to operate and maintain assigned vehicles; and to maintain records that are required and/or requested by management.
Responsibilities
- Operates assigned vehicles in a safe and courteous manner
- Maintains safe and defensive driving
- Provides communication link between residents, family, and staff
- Assists passengers in and out of the vehicle/bus, operates ramps, lifts, and securement devices as needed
- Reads and interprets maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service for residents
- Presents safety briefing to passengers before each trip departure
- Keeps assigned vehicle clean inside and outside
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on each trip sheet, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition report and other records that are requested by management
- Performs minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicles as required
- Fuels the assigned vehicle as required
- Coordinates the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruptions
- Responds immediately to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and rendering first aid until emergency personnel arrive
- Serves as a positive role model while providing transportation services
- Participates in facility surveys (State/Federal inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with other departments within the facility to ensure that daily activities can be performed without interruption
- Reports all accidents/incidents/unsafe conditions to the Administrator immediately
- Reports complaints and/or grievances made by the residents to the Activity Director/Administrator for resolution
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be at least 25 years of age or older
- Must have a Class C driver's license
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the residents/patients served
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public
- Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
- Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
