Bus Driver (CDL Required) – Concord Area Transit (CAT)

As a Bus Driver, you’ll be responsible for operating buses in the provision of transportation services to passengers of the Concord Area Transit, with regard to their safety, confidence, and comfort. You must obey all applicable local, State, and Federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle maintaining high safety standards and passenger confidence.
• Follow your established route and schedule in a timely manner while being responsible for accurate communication pertaining to changes in passenger itinerary and operating in accordance with route cancellation procedures.
• Record and report transportation data as required and be responsible for operating proper communications of the two-way radio system.
• Maintain proper vehicle appearance and cleanliness, inside and out, including possessing sensitivity to vehicle performance and limitations.
• Assist passengers with disabilities.
• Use discretion in operating during adverse weather conditions and inform immediate supervisor of such conditions.
• Report incidents/accidents as soon as they occur to the immediate supervisor, Director, or proper authorities, and adhere to all emergency procedures.
• Report breakdowns to your dispatcher and immediate supervisor while adhering to breakdown procedures.
• Train substitute drivers as requested.

Requirements

• High school education or the equivalent required.
• Must possess a valid NH CDL-B with passenger and air brake endorsements and maintain a current DOT medical card.
• Must complete driver training courses within the required timeframe and have obtained a Certificate of Completion (Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance, and Emergency Evacuation).
• At least 1 year of bus driving experience, including transporting passengers.
• Must have the ability to be polite and courteous at all times in dealing with passengers and negotiating traffic.
• Must comply with Agency policies on undergoing criminal record checks with the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services and NH Department of Safety Division of State Police.
• Must pass Agency Drug & Alcohol pre-employment testing to be qualified.
• Required to participate in random drug and alcohol testing as established by Agency Drug & Alcohol policies for safety-sensitive employees.
• Must have a reliable source of transportation to be used in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position and meet insurance requirements.
• Must maintain Department of Motor Vehicle records that are compliant with the loss control requirements established by the Agency’s insurance carrier.
