Bus Driver (2 positions)

About the role

The purpose of this position is to transport clients to and from the Center for Active Aging, to medically related appointments, social service agencies, special events, and other designated destinations. Operates a bus to transport clients.

Responsibilities

• Transports participants to and from the Center for Active Aging, to medically related appointments, social service agencies, special events, and other designated destinations.
• Operate various transportation vehicles, including 12-25 passenger accessible buses and a large activity bus.
• Affords assistance to participants with entering and exiting the bus, and with wheelchairs and walkers.
• Follows established city rules and regulations related to the operation use of buses.
• Provides reports on routing, passengers, maintenance, and mileage.
• Cleans interior and exterior of vehicles daily.
• Inspects bus daily for any damages.
• Checks bus engine for issues.
• Assists staff members as requested.

Requirements

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) years of public transportation experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state, CDL Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement and an acceptable driving history.
• Chauffer’s License required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of light automotive equipment operating principles and common hazards and safety precautions necessary for equipment operation.
• Ability to operate a 78-passenger school bus.
• Knowledge of street and highway routes.
• Skill in the operation of light automotive equipment.
• Ability to establish effective relationships with senior citizens, the general public and other City employees and to understand written and oral instructions.

Skills

• Physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Routine and frequent exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.

Schedule

Saturday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm & Special Events (40 Hours per week; may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the City.)
