Description

Multiple positions available for part-time chaperones, working mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday during the school term.

Chaperone Job Summary

Supervises and assists students in transit or crossing streets. Moves or assists in moving students whose mobility is impaired by their special needs. Facilitates the loading and unloading process, including assisting with wheelchair students and securing wheelchairs. Assists students into car seats and booster seats, buckling seatbelts as needed. Monitors and assists students to ensure comfort, safety and orderly conduct on bus. Demonstrates and role models positive, safe and responsible behavior.

Chaperone Qualifications

  • A high school graduate or hold GED.
  • Preferred individuals available to work mornings and afternoons.
  • Enjoy working with children.
  • Demonstrates and role models positive, safe and responsible behavior.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Chaperone Physical Requirements

  • Climbing on and off bus, bending and squatting to assist students as needed, sitting for extended periods.
  • Capable of assisting, moving or dragging students in case of an emergency (ranging in weight from small child to full adult).
  • Exposure to elements, road dust, occasional fuel and exhaust fumes.

    Compensation / Benefits

    • According to contractual agreement (based on 2025-27 contract).
    • Chaperones/Crossing Guards: $20.15 - 21.82 hourly.
    • All employees eligible for retirement plan; positions of 23 or more hours per week eligible for health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance plans.
    • If benefit eligible, benefits are available to new employees effective the first day of active employment.
