Responsibilities
- Aid students in entering or exiting the bus safely.
- Show the highest ethical standards and personal integrity; report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to a supervisor or manager.
- Secure students using seat belts, car seats, or wheelchair restraints as needed.
- Monitor passengers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and student conduct rules.
- Communicate and apply discipline according to company policy when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old; for New York School Bus Assistants, must be at least 19 years old.
- Must meet physical and medical requirements.
- Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training and attend safety meetings and in-service meetings.
- Must have a high degree of attention to detail and dexterity to safely use various restraints and secure wheelchairs.
- Must be able to relate to and work well with children.
- Must demonstrate professionalism and diplomacy when interacting with students, colleagues, parents, and school personnel.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to lift and assist students as necessary.

Pay
The pay rate range, along with most all of the other terms and conditions of employment, vary between different sites, geographical markets, customer/contractual terms, and positions.
