Responsibilities
- Read and accurately interpret batching sheets and other production documents to determine the order and quantity of ingredients, including "super-micros" pre-weighed by Quality Assurance personnel.
- Stage ingredients for batching and clean totes to contain the batches.
- Record production-related data such as lot numbers, supplier information, batching date codes, and plan numbers for gravy.
- Inspect each ingredient bag for condition, foreign material, grain lumps, off color, off odor, infestation, or expired materials.
- Perform batching by weighing each ingredient per the card, labeling and staging the tote.
- Maintain a 15-batch lead according to the production schedule.
- Conduct general cleaning of the gravy room, filtration system, and dry ingredient area, ensuring totes are vacuumed or wiped clean before use.
- Cover unused ingredients to prevent contamination, tape opened bags shut, and date/initial each one.
- Participate in team meetings, foster team cohesiveness, and support team policies and programs.
- Identify and address areas lacking cohesiveness, working with the team to resolve issues.
- Understand and support Simmons' operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies).
- Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Experience within a manufacturing or process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Machine operation experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or warehouse industry experience.
- Military experience valued.
Physical Activities
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
- Must be able to physically move bags of ingredients and totes weighing 40–60 pounds.
