Building Systems Manager (Operations & Maintenance)

About the role

The Building Systems Manager in the Operations and Maintenance division manages mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for facilities under the Department of Support Services. This role supervises trades staff, administers service contracts, and oversees building automation, access control, fire alarm, security alarm, video surveillance, and other control systems. The incumbent directs engineering projects, including defining budgets, developing and approving designs, and performing data analysis. Additional responsibilities include maintaining reports and coordinating the RFP process.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for assigned facilities.
• Supervise trades staff and administer service contracts.
• Oversee building automation, access control, fire alarm, security alarm, video surveillance, and other control systems.
• Direct engineering projects, including defining project budgets, developing and reviewing designs, and performing data analysis.
• Maintain reports and coordinate the RFP process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Six (6) years of progressively responsible engineering and/or facility maintenance program management experience.
• Two (2) years of management experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties may substitute for the stated requirements.
