Building Supervisor Chilson Center, Parks and Recreation
Support the comprehensive facility operations of the Hatfield Chilson Recreation Center by serving as a Manager on Duty. Work closely with the Facility Operations Coordinator to train and lead staff, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all patrons. Oversee daily building functions, assist part-time employees, promote exceptional customer service, and contribute to high-quality community programs.
About the Role
The Chilson Recreation Center is seeking a Building Supervisor passionate about serving the Loveland community and creating a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment. In this role, you’ll support daily operations, monitor facility conditions, coordinate with maintenance teams, and ensure every guest—from families to fitness enthusiasts—has a positive experience. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused setting and takes pride in maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
Primary shift: Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, with flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Provide front-line customer service to guests by enforcing Chilson Center rules, regulations, and policies through routine observations.
- Resolve administrative concerns by applying appropriate policies, procedures, and collaborating with supervisors, the Facility Management Team, and guests.
- Act in a lead capacity to assign and direct work of part-time staff, ensuring consistent quality service.
- Schedule employees as required and assist staff, including clerk/cashiers, lifeguards, facility attendants, and childcare attendants.
- In emergency situations, take charge of the facility and guests to provide a safe environment.
- Schedule and oversee birthday parties.
- Handle all opening and closing procedures, cash handling and deposits, and overall building security, including the pool.
- Ensure proper operation of facility mechanical systems and contact appropriate personnel for assistance as needed.
- Provide direct support and event-day oversight for special events and programmed activities hosted by internal and external entities.
- Perform and assist in all cleaning tasks and duties throughout the Chilson Center, including quality janitorial services.
- Conduct daily event/program/class setups and strikes, which may include heavy lifting and various janitorial tasks.
- Provide written and/or verbal reports on inventory needs, cleaning schedules, janitorial work lists, task assignments, guest attendance, and incidents.
- Perform basic maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of building and equipment.
- Respond to guest needs by assisting, providing tours, and addressing injuries and incidents promptly.
- Constantly move throughout the facility to oversee operations and respond quickly to needs.
- Perform front desk duties during busy times and cross-train in other areas as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of previous work experience performing similar customer service duties in a large commercial and/or public facility required.
- Staff supervisory experience preferred.
- Computer literacy preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Skills
- General working knowledge of recreation center operations and programming.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle guests, staff, and vendors diplomatically in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong judgment, patience, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare reports and monitor expenses using mathematical principles.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Frequent strenuous to extreme physical effort, including lifting heavy objects (50+ pounds) and using heavy tools in awkward positions.
- Occasional exposure to unpredictable conditions that may lead to injury.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions, such as working at heights or with energized electrical equipment.
Pay
Salary range: $25.42 - $34.32 per hour, with a hiring range of $25.42 - $29.87, depending on qualifications and experience.
