About the Role

LCCPS is a vibrant community of 815 K1-8 grade students, families and staff, serving the diverse communities of Lowell. The school represents many nations of Central and South America, Central Africa, and SouthEast Asia.

Responsibilities

• Follow the teacher's written lesson plans
• Create a positive learning environment
• Ensure that the goals of the plans are met
• Consult with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns
• Comply with all building procedures and schedules
• Prepare a written summary of work completed and any special notes
• Implement effective management procedures, maintain high expectations and uphold the student conduct code
• Create a referral for any infractions
• Work cooperatively with other teachers
• Uphold computer technology acceptable use policies
• Build a working knowledge of the curriculum
• Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
• Take precautions to ensure staff/student safety
• Provide appropriate and consistent supervision
• Report evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law
• Supervise non-classroom duties when assigned
• Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct
• Develop appropriate student relationships and serve as a positive role model for others
• Performs other specific job-related duties as directed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university (required)
• MA Department of Education Certification (preferred)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Second language or language acquisition background (preferred)
• Experience working with students from diverse SES backgrounds and cultures (preferred)
