Position Summary
The Department of Facilities Management supports the mission of the University of Denver's physical resources in providing a healthy and safe educational environment. This position performs skilled labor tasks associated with event production and facility conversions.
Essential Functions
- Work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as per event schedules.
- Communicate effectively with various building constituents through manual and electronic means.
- Instruct and lead nonskilled laborers as needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Manage minute details in delivering the production schedule within strict time constraints.
- Construct and repair staging and associated equipment, assemble portable and fixed seating, dasher boards, glass, riser systems, portable floor systems, special set-up equipment, and storage carts/systems.
- Operate forklifts, high lifts, air sleds, ram paks, and move office furniture using flat carts, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.
- Aid in general maintenance tasks within the assembly facility, including mechanical and electrical repair, general carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Preference for bilingual speakers (English/Spanish).
- Proficiency in basic math and computations relevant to maintenance and production tasks.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and envision projects from conception to completion.
- Decision-making ability under pressure and multitasking.
- Ability to follow directions from multiple sources and constituents.
- Ability to obtain a Certified Forklift Operators license within six months of hire.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience in general stagehand, theater, or assembly facility work as a lead conversion/changeover worker or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Colorado Drivers License and insurability under University guidelines.
- Pass a pre-employment physical exam and lift up to 100 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.
- Advanced general maintenance skills in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing.
- Certified Forklift Operators license.
