About the role
Building Operating Engineers perform skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and minor installation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical, mechanical, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, and other related equipment on the Macomb campus.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and perform minor installations of HVAC systems
- Maintain, repair, and perform minor installations of electrical and mechanical systems
- Service laundry equipment and kitchen equipment
- Operate and troubleshoot building automation and control systems
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years (36 months) of full-time employment in the maintenance of building mechanical equipment and/or as a mechanic of refrigeration, ventilation, and/or food-service equipment
- Demonstrated experience as an HVAC mechanic
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in HVAC may substitute for the required experience
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Refrigerant Certification for recovery and recycling of equipment) is required
