About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, conducting inspections, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction plans and ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct routine and special inspections of construction sites to ensure adherence to building codes and safety standards.
  • Provide technical assistance to developers and contractors regarding building code requirements and best practices.
  • Issue permits and maintain accurate records of all issued permits.
  • Participate in public meetings and provide expert testimony on building code issues.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building code violations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations and apply these updates to ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • Experience with building permit processing and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and techniques.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Pay

$60,000 - $70,000 annually.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
