Building Mechanic

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our mission-driven organization as a 2nd Shift Building Mechanic (Friday–Tuesday) at Stella Maris, a leading nursing home providing Baltimore-area residents with a comprehensive range of health and residential services.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance duties in and around the buildings of the complex, including construction, repair, and maintenance of related equipment.
• Complete assigned work orders daily, covering repairs and maintenance of mechanical, non-mechanical, and electrical equipment in a safe and timely manner, adhering to department standards, procedures, and manufacturers’ specifications.
• Observe mechanical devices (pumps, motors, engines, etc.) during operation, listen for unusual sounds during equipment check rotations and daily activity, and notify supervisors of problems immediately.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed, submitting paperwork at the end of each shift.
• Keep the work area safe and efficient.
• Independently complete assigned projects/tasks requiring expertise in a specialized trade, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness when requested.
• Accurately estimate quantities of materials needed and ensure adequate time for ordering.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Pay

Hourly pay range: USD $23.80 – $35.80. Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
