About the role
This is a full-time position with benefits. The role performs general maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, grounds, and related facilities, and performs semi-skilled manual work involving building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and drywall, masonry, custodial, or other maintenance projects. An incumbent in this position may be designated "Building Maintenance Technician I" or "Building Maintenance Technician II."
Responsibilities
- Performs regular inspection of county facilities, equipment, and related assets.
- Performs general building maintenance, carpentry, masonry, or construction/office remodeling tasks, including:
- Painting interior and exterior surfaces;
- Performing general concrete work, plaster applications, and placing sheetrock;
- Removing, repairing, and replacing floor/ceiling tile;
- Inspecting, installing, and repairing roofs;
- Installing, adjusting, and repairing doors and hardware;
- Replacing windows, doors, and glass panes;
- Lubricating hardware;
- Performing locksmith duties;
- Performing related maintenance and repair activities.
- Performs routine electrical tasks, including:
- Troubleshooting electrical problems;
- Installing electrical receptacles and switches;
- Repairing electrical components;
- Tripping or replacing breakers;
- Replacing light bulbs and ballasts.
- Assists in the maintenance of athletic field lighting systems.
- Performs various plumbing tasks, including:
- Troubleshooting plumbing problems;
- Installing and repairing plumbing fixtures;
- Clearing and unblocking water lines and drains;
- Repairing toilets, sinks, faucets, drinking fountains, etc.;
- Soldering pipes;
- Repairing plumbing leaks.
- Assists in the repair and maintenance of septic systems.
- Performs scheduled in-depth preventative maintenance and service/repair of HVAC systems and subsystems, including:
- Pneumatic and DDC control systems;
- Air-handling evaporation systems;
- Chillers;
- Rooftop equipment;
- Split systems;
- Window units;
- Heating/cooling water circulation systems;
- Related fans, piping, pumps, and other components.
- Specific to a Building Maintenance Technician II:
- Troubleshoots defective HVAC systems and equipment to make diagnoses;
- Ensures condensation drain lines are free of debris and are draining properly;
- Performs emergency repairs promptly and efficiently;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Pay
Starting Salary – $43,462.11
