Building Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Technician to support critical facility operations within a semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom environment. This position plays a vital role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and operational reliability.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, or high-volume manufacturing environments and possess strong troubleshooting abilities, safety awareness, and preventive maintenance expertise.

Location: Austin, TX, Shift: 1st Shift (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), Employment Type: Contract-Hire

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and facility infrastructure systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair facility and equipment issues to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
• Conduct routine inspections of building systems and cleanroom infrastructure to identify maintenance needs, risks, and potential failures.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with engineering, operations, and contractors to support equipment installations and facility projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, maintenance records, inspections, and equipment history.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, OSHA regulations, and cleanroom protocols.
• Support emergency response efforts related to facility incidents such as utility interruptions, leaks, or system failures.
• Assist with rigging activities, equipment moves, and installation of sensitive manufacturing equipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, maintenance efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Coordinate vendor and contractor activities while ensuring work quality and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• 3–5+ years of maintenance experience supporting semiconductor fabs, critical facilities, cleanrooms, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Experience working with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical facility systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair mechanical and control system issues.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and emergency response protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing facilities or cleanroom environments.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
